Children & Young People

It’s great to have children and young people at St Catharine’s week by week. They are always welcome and we aim to provide a range of ways for them to grow with God and engage with the Bible for themselves.

Currently, as we are not able to meet in person, our Sunday Kids work has moved online. You can find our Youtube playlist with all our kids work on HERE

At St Catharine’s we have several groups for our children and young people, all aiming to have fun and learn more of Jesus in a safe and caring environment.  We really value our children at St Catharine’s and want to make them feel an integral part of the church family.

Kids’ Church is for primary school age children and meets during the 10.30am service each week. We are privileged to be able to make use of the school hall at Houghton CE Primary School (almost next door); the children join in for the first part of the service, then go out for their own activities, before returning in time for refreshments.

SCYPE stands for St Catharine’s Young Peoples Experience and is for young people from Year 6 to  Year 9, and runs alongside Kids’ Church during the 10.30am service.

As well as on Sunday we also have groups throughout the week. On Tuesdays, after school, we run a club at Houghton Primary called Excite.

On Fridays we run a youth group called Element at Houghton Pavilion for secondary school children. We play games, have a chat, run a tuck shop, and it’s a great place to relax with your friends.

We also have our monthly Explore group on Sunday afternoons for families.

If you are interested in joining or coming along to any of these and you want to find out more, please get in contact,
